Ind. Gov't. - How the House of Representatives began its 2006 session [Updated]
The Indiana House of Representatives convened today at 1:30 p.m. The ILB was watching, via the legislature's "Watch Video of the General Assembly Online" service, to see whether Speaker Bosma would defy Judge Hamilton's order.
No way to tell. The session apparently began, the Speaker was speaking from the podium, in a close-in shot, but there was no sound. Rep. Bauer was speaking, from a floor mike, but there was no sound. Soon there was no picture either, and instead of a test-pattern (remember those) there was a notice announcing the December 2005 Ways & Means Committee meeting dates.
It is now more than an hour later and still no sound, and no picture except for the W&M sign.
The Indianapolis Star has just posted a story that doesn't mention the much-promoted video service, but does report "Small group of lawmakers huddle in prayer." It begins:
About 20 House members gathered at the rear of the chamber today minutes before the opening of the session and held a prayer.[Updated] Noticing that no other bloggers or newspapers reported on the lack of audio in the internet video of today's House session, the ILB thought to check it out on another computer. And yes, there was audio after all! My mistake!
