Ind. Gov't. - "The Indiana Citizens Redistricting Commission is recruiting amateur cartographers"
See the story here, by Brian Francisco of the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette. Notable to me is that the Indiana Citizens Redistricting Commission is correctly pointing out:
[W]hile the General Assembly must draw congressional maps by April 29, it can take all year to have public hearings and approve legislative districts in early January [2012], well ahead of the 2012 primary election campaigns.Until recently, stories in the press had inaccurately reported that all redistricting must be completed by the end of April, 2011.“This isn’t easy. It’s not sitting down and drawing squares on a map,” Vaughn said. “Take it slow and do it right is our message.”
